In the Stacks

I did something I never thought I would do...take OOTD pictures in the library. Okay, I did go to the 3rd floor, hiding behind shelves of books, in the farthest corner of the building by the windows (hope the passerby's couldn't see me...that would be embarrassing)--but I still did it. I'm wearing:
Cardigan: BASS outfitters, Long Sleeve: Target, Cargo pants: SL8, Flats: GAP, Ring: Lone Star Jeans Boutique, Bracelets: street vendors in NYC/Bahamas/URI campus (I'm pretty diverse, right?)

Side note: I tried doing the stacking bracelets thing again--usually I feel like I'm wearing handcuffs, but after Staley's post a while back I decided to give it another go!

I'm off to tackle some homework and job applications--what's on your to-do list?
Has anyone else ever taken OOTD pictures in weird places?

Flow is Flow

I needed to post this picture; it captures everything I am coveting at the moment: flowy skirts, patterned booties, over sized sunnies, metallics, neons, leather bombers--edgy and lady-like!

Happy Hump Day!
Let's all try and get through it together!

7 things...

Although my blog is relatively new (circa September) I'm ecstatic that I have a handful of daily readers. I know you're all probably bored of hearing me talk about how amazing you all are (or maybe you're saying "go on, keep telling me!") Recently two wonderful bloggers, Cape Code Collegiate and Another City Girl awarded me the Stylish Blogger Award--I get to share 7 facts about myself and "present" this award to 5 newly discovered blogs!
  1. I am OBSESSED with rompers lately--especially this one by DSquared2.
  2. Michael Kors is one of my favorite designers--he just knows how women want to dress and I love his idea of "casual sophistication."
  3. I am ADDICTED to my Macbook Pro and I rarely go a day with out using it.
  4. I am a To-Do List enthusiast and make one every day (nothing says productivity like ticking off a few boxes during a busy day).
  5. While I love all shoes--boots, flats, heels (particularly wedges), sandals--I wear my Sperry Top-Siders multiple times a week (sometimes I am even guilty of wearing them 7 days/week).
  6. I love reading magazines--all kinds (my favorites are InStyle, Marie Claire, Health, Lucky, and Fitness).
  7. Ever since I stopped drinking Diet Coke around New Years I have fallen in love with Chrystal Light Lemonade packets!
I would love to tag the following bloggers for being:
Hilarious: Julie Go Lean
Colorful: Daily Crush
Trend-setting: Dream & Dress
Master Chef/Nail polish devotee: Fashion Meets Food

So go ahead, share 7 facts about yourselves ladies and pass the blog along to 5 others!

Check out these blogs--they WILL NOT DISAPPOINT!
Also keep your eyes open for my giveaway by Miss Meliss!

I'm Back...and I want some Banana!

It feels amazing to be back home, but Spring Break was a ton of fun and I can't wait to share my pictures with all of you! Thank you so much for all of your comments while I was away--I had the biggest smile on my face when I finally checked my blog after being away for a week (I was really starting to miss reading/sharing posts with all of you--can't wait to catch up, it's been TOO long!) Anyway, silly me forgot to bring my camera cord home so I will have to do a picture post later in the week. But don't think I am leaving you hanging...obviously I have some news to share. One, I am doing my first giveaway this week so keep checking back (sneak peak: it's from a new line called Miss Meliss). And two...I am absolutely in love with all the spring shoe trends at Banana Republic right now--cut outs, suede, two-tone earthy colors, metal hardware, floral details; the perfect mix of feminine detailing and masculine edginess. Here are my picks for this spring...

Listed clockwise:
Marco sling back clog, Harvey cut-out boot, Mayerhs floral bloom thong, Lumi open-toe lace-up bootie, Scotty essential flat

Have an amazing Monday! Thank you so much for being the best readers ever!

Spring Break Packing Woes

Hey everyone! I am leaving for Spring Break tomorrow so unfortunately this will be my last post (I won't be back until next Sunday!)...while I have been running around doing last minute things, manicure/pedicure and a little trip to Target, I need to buckle down and start packing. I wish some stylish blogger out there would just tell me what/how to pack for my 7-day cruise (I need to reuse almost everything I bring), here are some of my essentials:
Forever 21: straw fedora, GAP: flip flops, Target: Dolce Vita for Target wedges, Tote bag: Long champ, Maxi Dress: clearance rack at Marshalls (mine looks similar to the one pictured), Magazine: Marie Claire March 2011, Bathing Suit: Rampage

What should I pack? Any advice?

Friday Fancies

The weather has been so beautiful lately...almost "flip-flop" weather. I would love to be strolling down the cobblestone streets of SoHo in this outfit. What is your dream outfit, if money were no object? Link up with {av} for the Friday Fancies game on her blog {long distance loving}:

Spring Break on the Brain

I'm in the library, dressed way down: long-sleeve t-shirt, Sperry's and jeans--not OOTD worthy by any means. While I am trying to finish my marketing plan and proposal I can not stop people watching in the library. Does anyone else have this problem? I am sitting by the door on the 3rd floor (bad idea # 1). This floor is GREEK SYSTEM central and I keep seeing people I kind of know but don't really know. What do I do? Do I say hey, do the head nod, ignore them completely? Then I must (not-so-discretely) stop turning my head every which way to see who walked in, who walked out, who is sitting with who--when did I become so nosy? Right now I literally feel like a spinning head Medusa, I am looking everywhere, time to focus Cassie: just look at the computer screen, just blog, please just blog and stop looking up.
Change of topic, since I am procrastinating before my class at 11...I have spring break on my brain and these photos by Tamer Yilmaz from Elle Turkey March 2011 are getting me so excited to leave the cold weather behind and hop on my cruise boat--jetting off to the Bahamas! I can not wait for bright nail polish, big sunglasses, breezy patterned dresses and a backdrop of palm trees and turquoise water! Now if only I had a wardrobe Miu Miu and Prada...

Color Me Gray

Today I woke up in the greatest mood despite the rainy weather and charcoal gray sky; the moody weather inspired my outfit today, I am wearing different shades of gray and black:
Cardigan: BASS Outfitters, Dress: Mimi Chica (worn as skirt), Knit T-shirt: Ecote (via Urban Outfitters), Tights: BASS Outfitters, Boots: BASS Outfitters, Belt: unknown, Watch: Michael Kors

What are you doing on this rainy day?

Chambray-Chunky-Knit-Silk-Leather

I am wearing so many different fabrics/textures today--and I love it. I usually am pretty skeptical when it comes to mixing and matching prints, textures, colors, etc. I think it comes from my thought that I can't pull it off. However, I have come to find that personal style comes from stepping outside the box every now and then, trying and blending polar opposites, hoping to pull everything together into a cohesive look. While I am definitely not the most stylish, I can see myself evolving and becoming more confident in my outfit choices which is a huge goal of mine; being able to wear whatever my heart desires, picking something up in a store and reinventing the way I wear it (multiple wears/multiple uses)! So why not blend chambray, silk, cotton, chunky knits and leather? Today I am wearing:
Blouse: Chambray (label unknown-bought at Marshalls), Leggings: The Girls, Boots: BASS Outfitters, Sweater: American Eagle Outfitters, Scarf: OSCAR by Oscar de la Renta, Belt: borrowed from Mom, Necklace: initial chain (gifted from Aunt L), Earrings: Street Vendor (China Town, NYC), Watch: Michael Kors (not pictured).

Creams and Browns

After a great nights sleep I feel completely ready to tackle all my tasks for the day: internship, gym, homework, job applications (does it seem like I do the same things everyday?) Ah, I'm a creature of habit! First stop of the day, my internship in Providence. Here's what I'm wearing:
Vest: Isabella Rodriguez, Long Sleeve: Target, Jeans: Forever21, Boots: Boutique in NYC, Watch: Michael Kors, Rose Necklace: New York Historical Society Museum (gifted from Dad).

Have a great Monday.

Fishtail and a ton of Black

I wore the fishtail braid...again! I am obsessed with it (sadly I need the assistance of my friend Caitlin to pull it off--she braids my hair, how cute are we?) Anyway, I am determined to learn how to do this; it took my all-black outfit down a notch and added a bohemian and laid back vibe, which I obviously love (hello Nicole Richie fanatic). This is what I wore out last night:
Blouse: Express, Leggings: The Girls, Tank-top: Aerie (may not be visible), Boots: Forever21 (borrowed from S), Watch: Michael Kors, Earrings: Street Fair in NYC

Have a great Sunday...

Friday Fancies

I can't get enough of the "Friday Fancies" game on the blog {long distance loving}. Basically, create your dream outfit, hop over to {av}'s blog and play along with us!

Today I needed some color in my life; it is raining in Rhode Island...a little mustard yellow, plum, and orange is all I need to bring some happiness back into my morning; that and the song, "Marry You" that was preformed on Glee (listen here). Here are my Friday Fancies picks this week!

What are you guys lusting over this week? Please share!

Red Nails and a Smile on My Face

So I just went to Health Services and I...just have a cold (whew! I was getting worried). Spring break in the Bahamas, I am ready for you!! Today is a freezing-cold day and yet again I would love to thank Rhode Island for having bipolar weather tendencies, can it be sunshiny and warm instead of cold and rainy? This is my attempt at layering...I have been so inspired by the bloggers at Atlantic-Pacific and See Jane, am I getting better at this unappreciated art form?

Sweater: GAP, Button-down: Chambray from BASS Outfitters, Leggings: The Girls, Boots: BASS Outfitters, Watch: Michael Kors, Barrett: Century 21, Nail polish: OPI InStyle Red

Stay warm!

Sick Day(s)

I've been feeling pretty sick lately (maybe I shouldn't use the world pretty in front of the word sick...it just seems wrong). Anyway, although I am sick I still had to work today (internship work from home in my PJ's...my boss is the best!) And although I don't feel well, how can I not get a little cheerier writing fashion press releases and calling editors from ElleGirl and Teen Vogue?!?
This is my new sick routine, all I need is:
My MacBook Pro (for Internship work, homework...and blogging/Facebooking/Tweeting, hey a girl needs the occasional break!), a steamy mug of Tea (bottomless!), the March issue of Health Magazine (Spring Break in 2 weeks, gotta get in shape! Hello Bahamas!), Rumor Has It (hilarious movie!), OPI InStyle Red nail polish (painting my nails makes me feel pretty even if I feel gross...I recommend doing this, it temporarily works), Comfy PJ's (it's okay, I'm sick so I'm allowed to dress like a bum).

I forgot to mention that I've been listening to every single song from Glee (okay, only the ones that I have in my iTunes)...happy music people, happy music!

Keepin' It Real

What's the best fashion advice you have ever heard? Recently magazines keep urging us to wear what is comfortable and what is most familiar. While I love testing the limits (sometimes...baby steps) I am definitely most comfortable in a cardigan, jeans, a button-down shirt and flats. There is something about the comfort of all these individual pieces; funnily, the simplicity of all my fashion staples combined creates a pretty polished and glossy look. Today I am "keepin' it real," totally simple:
Cardigan: H&M, Button-down: Verve, Jeans: Forever21, Flats: Steve Madden, Watch: Michael Kors

If you are "keepin' it real" what do you wear?

All Day, Everyday

If I could sum up how I wished I looked every given day of my life it would be summed up as follows:

Crew Neck Stripes
Maxi Skirt
Rustic Belt
Fedora
Thick Glasses
Wavy Hair
Blacks & Neutrals

Perfection.

It's Kourtney!

Cute and little with a big mouth and a fire-cracker personality, spunky Kourtney is definitely my favorite of the giant Kardashian clan! Not only does she have a hilarious personality, but she has a very dynamic wardrobe and I love every outfit she puts together. She wears lady-like skirts and trousers, sky-high heels and fun accessories like floppy hats, chain-strap purses and big chunky earrings! Style crush!

Posh Spice vs. Cassie

Hey everyone! This is going to be a very short post because I am heading to the airport in about a half hour (and I really need to do some last minute packing...) Last night I was googling some "celebrity airport outfits" to get some inspiration, I wanted to travel in style; you know 5 inch Louboutin's, monogrammed Louis Vuitton suitcases, body-con dresses, fur vests..standard travel uniforms, right? Well I settled for comfort (I have a layover so it's going to be a long, long day.) This is my outfit, although I wish I looked like posh...I admit defeat, I LOSE!
Sweatshirt: Mossimo for Target, Tank-tops: White (Old Navy) & Black (H&M), Leggings: Converse for Target, Scarf: Walmart, Bracelet: Tiffany & Co., Shoes: Sperry Top-Siders

What do you wear when you travel? Do you settle for comfort or GLAM OUT like V. Becks?

Atlantic-Pacific

You know that feeling when you find a new blog, a blog you totally adore? It is a feeling that just makes you smile and tear through page after page of inspiration--"Finally!" you think aloud, "My dream style! All I must do now is run to my money tree and buy the exact same things she beautifully put together on her blog!" Today I discovered a new blog, Atlantic Pacific and it may be the most amazing style blog I have seen recently! No matter what look blogger Bee creates the outcome is amazing! She manages to fuse a look that incorporates high end designers like Chanel with pieces from Banana Republic and Forever21! What makes her even better? She is such a mix of edginess, classiness, quirkiness, and sexiness...can one person be all those things? Yes...Bee can! Check out her blog, it is seriously out of this world! Here are some of my favorite looks!
