Last Day of Classes!

Oh-my-gosh!
Today is the last day of classes and it is surreal; how can I be approaching my final semester of college? Time seriously goes way too fast, it's hard to catch my breath sometimes.
Just being in Rhode Island has been a great experience and a collage of images from my time at URI constantly plays in my mind; it will forever be on repeat, streaming through my entire body.
Just yesterday, as me and my roommate S were walking on Narragansett Beach, bundled in long, down, furry coats, scarves, gloves (thanks Grandma!), hats, and Uggs, I couldn't help but feel like I was living in a movie scene: staring out in to the deep sapphire ocean, watching brave surfers glide through the crashing tides, kicking the sand up with our boots, dancing on the seashells and staring at the boats on the horizon.
Sorry for the sappiness, but I am growing up so fast--AH!
Recently I have been filling out intent to graduate forms, spring internship paperwork, doing final projects and portfolios, going out to the bars to celebrate (successes, failures, love, loss?), decorating our Christmas tree (my house looks like Santa's workshop, thanks SYD!) and getting ready for formal. It seems like I have the most massive to-do list of life...but for some reason it makes me feel like I am really accomplishing a lot, and I am learning a lot about myself in the process: body image, time management, relationship issues (friends/boys...definitely not men!) and all the other issues a twenty-something girl deals with.

Here's my last day of classes (Fall Semester) outfit. Keep in mind, it is absolutely freezing so I wanted to stay warm. I also had to walk from the middle-of-no-where-commuter-lot, to the emporium to get my eyebrows waxed (hello formal on Sunday, and eyebrows are very important to keep groomed!) and back to Roosevelt Hall to get more internship forms (woo-hoo, not!); therefore I needed the Uggs today!
  • Jones New York, distressed red boat neck 3/4 sleeve t-shirt
  • Bass, medium wash jeans
  • Marshalls, gray leg warmers
  • Uggs, chestnut short
  • Gap, gray cardigan (not pictured)
  • Marshalls, mutli-colored circle scarf (not pictured)
So life is hectic, and I am loving every second of it...I don't know if it's the cold air blowing all around me or the anticipation of great things to come, but it feels so great to be alive!
There's a Holiday Mini-mall in the Union today...I need a little finals-week-pick-me-up. I saw some great hand-knit ear/neck warmers...do I dare?
I'll report back with my little splurges!
xoxo.

Doom & Gloom

I am really trying to look on the bright side despite events that have occurred over the past few days: speeding ticket, confusion with homework/grades, panic that I am graduating, family issues, etc.
It's been really hard to stay positive, but I know that I need to trick myself in to thinking that everything is great and fabulous--it's the only way for me to get over the bad stuff...to ignore it until it eventually fizzles away (or builds up in to massive heaps).

Last night I watched a documentary called "The September Issue" about Vogue and the creation of the 2007 September issue of the magazine (the biggest edition the magazine had put out thus far!) I loved seeing designers such as Thakoon and Oscar de la Renta interact with fashion dynamo Anna Wintour. The whole time I was watching the movie I was thinking of the movie The Devil Wears Prada, Meryl Streep's character Miranda Priestly is exactly like Anna...the similarities are hilarious (even the pursing of the lips scene in the movie is documented!) I really recommend watching this if you have an interest in fashion, the magazine industry, and just style in general.

Comfort was the only thing I had on my mind today mostly because I have been moody and didn't feel like dressing up--but I love dressing up! Okay, I am making a pledge right now to all my readers, my outfits are going to be much better after today. Pessimism negatively affects wardrobe choices.
I'm wearing:
  • Dark wash BASS strait leg jeans
  • Ralph Lauren scoop neck black t-shirt
  • Marisa Christina brown, tan, and black sweater-coat
  • Purple, black, gold, brown Pashmina scarf
  • Minnetonka moccasins...one bow-tie broke today :(
I am going to work on having a positive attitude right now...wish me luck!

Speed Demon

Hey ladies!
Okay, so yesterday was not the greatest day. Well it started GREAT! An awesome breakfast (yogurt, cut up granny smith apple, honey sunshine Kashi cereal, blackberry, wheat-germ homemade parfait YUM!) followed by a great gym session...then on my way driving back to school BLAM! I got a $294 speeding ticket, I wanted to cry, scream, yell and explode, but I just sat there patiently as the police officer wrote me up. This very expensive lesson that I learned yesterday was a wake up call of some sorts for me...I drive way too fast, I have a lead foot, period. So when I finally got back to school I was not in the best of spirits. However, one trip to Charlie O's with my friends and 2 $5.00 pitchers of pink Sangria later, I was feeling happy, light-hearted and...drunk? I know I shouldn't be posting about my intoxication (on the Internet?) but I needed to get loose and alleviate myself of some tension, and I am 21 so it is perfectly legal, so I will continue talking about this. My liquid courage was the perfect motivator and at the bar I asked my friend to formal, score! So, now I have formal shoes, a formal date, and now I need a formal dress (okay, okay, I kind of have one, but there's always room for improvement and new ideas right?).

Today, despite a massive hangover, I am feeling pretty good. I had a great breakfast, drove below 40mph all the way to school listening to OAR and the Pussycat Dolls (weird combination right?) and I feel pretty good about life. This is my outfit: comfortable and casual, perfect for the chilly yet sunny Rhode Island day.
  1. American Eagle plaid flannel long sleeve button down (gifted from Mom)
  2. BASS skinny leg "trouser" jeans
  3. Minnetonka moccasins
  4. Skinny gold headband (from Aldo Accessories)
Again sorry for the horrible quality pictures! I do have a camera, but when I do self-timer shots they look horrible and do not get my whole outfit anyway. I need my roommates to take my pictures but they sleep in so late (lazy bums!), or actually...I just wake up entirely too early. Who goes to sleep drunk off sangria and 2am and wakes up (internal alarm clock) at 7am? This girl right here!

I hope everyone is having a great Monday so far. Appreciate the sunshine and look for the small things in life to make you happy, that's what I am doing! Can you guys believe there are only 2 more weeks of classes left?!?!

Repeat Offender

I may be going crazy, not quite sure, but for some reason I feel like I have worn this outfit before. The outfit is all basics, but I think the stripped cardigan I am wearing is so memorable that I feel like I am wearing this outfit all over again...okay, it is kind of similar...or exactly the same, minus different wash jeans and different shoes.
Oh well! Have you guys ever worn the same outfits and not even noticed?

Anyway, today is Monday and I think it will be the first and only day of classes for me this week. Yes, I do have classes on Wednesday but I am thinking I will bypass those and go home early for THANKSGIVING! I haven't even missed a class this semester so I think it is my obligation as a College Senior to finally skip some classes!
What does everyone have planned for Thanksgiving? Mine will hopefully be filled with great food, shopping expeditions with my sister and New York City bar nights (a girl can hope at least!) Also, I may need a new computer because my MacBook is biting the dust and it is really depressing, it is basically my lifeline!

Last night when I went to sleep I was seriously bummed, I guess I am just overwhelmed with little decisions that I need to make. Are these decisions that important or are they just distractions to break up the monotony of my daily life? Whose to know. But when I woke up this morning I was determined to start fresh, to not let the little things bring me down, to know that I am a great, beautiful person and I deserve everything that I want and I will not rest until I get it!
Sorry for my little rant/anthem, on to the outfit:
  1. BASS medium wash jeans
  2. Blue and white stripped J.Crew cardigan
  3. White Vintage Brand long sleeve t-shirt
  4. Brown tall boots with gold details
The outfit is pretty basic if I do say so myself.
I have a major question to pose: how do you avoid having your jeans get saggy around your knees when you tuck your pants into knee-high boots. That is my ultimate pet peeve. I hate when jeans bunch around your knees, it just looks so sloppy and messy. I tried tucking my jeans into my socks and pulling them tight when I step into my boots...I just can't solve this issue! Can someone be my jean-tucking-fairy-godmother and tell me the secrets to perfectly tucked jeans?
I think tomorrow I am going to post a list of things I really want to buy for the winter season, or maybe my ideal new years eve party dress? Whatever I decide I know it is going to be fabulous! I can't wait to go home and start shopping, I need some glitz and sparkle in the form of a new party dress and I especially can't wait to be with D so we can finally shop together after 3 months of being apart!

Straight Lines

Burrrr!!!
It's getting cold out and usually I love the upcoming days to the official winter season...except, this year at school I am without all my warm clothes! What gives? I guess in the spur of the moment packing for school this year (yes, 2 days before I left home), I forgot all of my boots, sweaters and jackets...oh and gloves too! So basically I am walking around in light weight cardigans and Minnetonka moccasins...the cold is no match for me!

I have been so stressed lately with life...well not really life (maybe random elements that add up and when I'm dramatic make me say LIFE!) So I was thinking that if I listed what's going on in my head I will feel better...yeah, I am THAT GIRL!
  • Why do people pretend like they are listening and don't? Why ask me a question if you don't care what I have to say? Isn't that a waste of your time?
  • How am I going to find a job after graduation? Why do I feel like I must "follow the herd" and go to Grad school when I have absolutely no idea what I would possibly go for...yet! Why do I care that people keep asking me why I am NOT going to grad school right away?
  • Boys...enough said! Why do boys say exactly what you want to hear at exactly the right time? Why can't they say what's really on their minds? How do they get you to say your feelings while keeping themselves hidden? How is that fair?
  • Money! Why does money get spent so quickly? Why do I find the need to buy myself "cheer up sunshine!" presents on the daily. How many nail polishes and magazines can a girl buy in month?
Okay, sorry for that rant. If your still reading this is what I am wearing today...
Like I said it's cold outside, so I wanted to layer...I started off with a plain white long sleeve t-shirt from Target aka the best place to get basic layering pieces (ex: long sleeve t-shirts, tank tops, t-shirts: all cuts and styles). On top of that I am wearing my J.Crew blue and white stripped cardigan that my parents and sister picked out for me at the outlets last year. Oh, getting a lovely package of J.Crew cold-weather essentials in the mail during midterm week...priceless. Speaking of J.Crew, how cute are these photos?
I am wearing my dark wash BASS jeans today. I feel like the colder and closer to winter it gets, the more I embrace dark colors in all aspects of style: dark nail polish, jeans, sweaters, shirts...EVERYTHING! I don't know why but it just feels so toasty and snug like I can hole up in my room with some hot coco, a good book, a stack of magazines, and a massive to-do list (oh how I love to-do lists!)
I am wearing my Minnetonka moccasins basically because I don't have anything that much warmer right now...but surprisingly they are decently warm PLUS they are molded to my feel perfectly so I really wouldn't want to wear anything else.
*Okay, okay fine: my toes WERE still freezing walking up the hill to the union today!
Lastly, I am wearing my long gold chain necklace with heart charm that I got in Soho when I was working at Scholastic Publishing Company two summers ago.

Sorry for the long length of this post, I guess I have a lot to say today...I am going to start my home work because lately my days have been a huge blur of procrastination...and I am not sure why (I am NEVER this way! HELLO I AM A VIRGO!)
I really just want to live on the bright side...whose with me?

Seeing Spots

It is freezing this morning!
I was starting to get comfortable with the whole flip flops and t-shirts in October kind of thing. But since it is now officially November I think that it makes sense that my toes are frozen solid in my GAP flats!
This weekend was so much fun and I am officially HALLOWEENED out! 4 nights of festivities is just way too much. I got about 5 hours of sleep a night since Thursday, but that's college for ya right?!?

Anyway, this morning when I got dressed all I wanted to do was be comfortable so this is what I wore:
I started off with my medium wash BASS jeans. Let me clarify, I own abut 4 pairs of jeans from BASS (I know I wear them all the time but it's because they are the perfect amount of stretch and stiffness, and YOU CAN NOT GET THAT EVERYWHERE!) I just washed this pair too so they are tight in all the right places, nothing beats freshly washed and dried jeans....NOTHING!
On top I decided to wear a black button down (3/4 length) blouse that I got on clearance at Marshalls.

Word to all my faithful readers: check the clearance racks at places like Marshalls and TJ Maxx first because usually their discounted items are amazingly cheap and out of this world!

I decided to wear my blue GAP denim ruffle flats...again! I think I posted once about my random fixations on certain items and how I wear them until I basically can't anymore. Funnily enough this is turning into one of those types of things...again. This summer I lived in these flats, then got bored with them, threw them in the back of my closet (well actually meticulously placed because I have closet organization OCD) only to return to them...right now!

But remember my whole motto on a statement piece: let the other aspects of your outfit be basics? Well, I am trying the animal print trend. I am not a huge pattern/print type of gal. I can appreciate it on others and subtly mix it into my style, but it is not my thing. However, I really wanted to try a splash of leopard print in my life and did through the gray leopard print scarf.

Funny story about this scarf: I went with my friend to Walmart to get a Halloween costume for him and he decided on a camouflage t-shirt, plastic machete and black bandanna (a type of soldier in the wilderness type? who knows!) Although the drive to Walmart took forever (thank you 25mph speed limits everywhere in Rhode Island) it was necessary because he wanted to spend his $30 Walmart gift card...because most college students have Walmart gift cards. Anyway, for taking the trip he bought me this $5.00 scarf and to be quite honest it is so comfortable I think I want to go back and get more!

Lastly, I threw on my GAP long black waffle cardigan (here and almost every other post!) because it is so chilly out, and let me say this did not warm me up, I really need to look for a new winter coat...a long length, super comfortable, plush, piece of amazingness might I add!

Oh, and accessories: I decided to wear my favorite beaded ring that my aunt got for me (seen here).

I hope everyone has a great Monday!
Stay WARM!

Fur-eezing

Okay, so let me start this post off by saying that last night was absolutely insane!

I had my interview in the morning and it went well. As I headed from beautiful and sunny Providence into foggy and rainy Narragansett, I realized that I didn't have a Halloween costume yet. Now most people (aka non-college students) are thinking to themselves, "Halloween isn't Thursday, why do you need a costume now?" Well dear readers, let me answer that question for you. Thursday night is basically Halloween, actually any night the week before Halloween is Halloween, catch on yet? I need multiple costumes. Last night I was a cop and basically scrambled to get a costume together, eventually borrowing it from my friend K at around 8:00pm. I think tonight me and my friend R are going to be nerds? Everything changes though, just like my daily outfits my Halloween costumes are just as dynamic and susceptible to changing at the last minute.
Funny story:
Last night at the bar the cop asked me if he could borrow my handcuffs. Mind you, they are plastic and in my "altered state" I found this comment to be hilarious. I usually try to avoid cops, but last night we were laughing with them, using my plastic walkie talkie, yelling "10-4 and copy ranger." I LOVE COLLEGE!

Needless to say, when I woke up this morning I was a mess! For the past week or so my first class has been canceled so I could take my sweet time in the morning, but this morning it's back on so that means I had to get it together...and quickly! So I did what any normal fashion blogger would do...basics and a statement piece...easy & breezy!
I am wearing my medium wash BASS jeans, with a black tissue long t-shirt from J. Crew. I think I have spoken about how awesome the Crew tissue t's are. They are super comfortable and if you go to the outlets to buy them (instead of full retail price in the store) you can get them from next to nothing. I basically live in the 4 or 5 that I have. I am wearing my denim GAP ruffle ballet flats (that I previously spoke of throwing out! The time is not now! I made an executive decision) complete with band aids all over my foot because my heels last night (Thanks Syd for letting me borrow them!) were too small and too high and I wore them for way too long and walked way to far!
Statement piece = Kenzie black knit and faux fur vest purchased at Marshalls for $25.00!
Okay, so I know many people are not into the faux and I wasn't up until recently. I remember making fun of my sister D who loved her when she got one last year. I thought it was beyond ugly, and just nasty! I have obviously changed my ways and love mine! I think it's definitely a hate it or love it type of piece but it's so warm and comfortable I don't care!

So that's my post for the morning. I hope everyone had a great 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th night of Halloween? I'm not sure what number we are on...last night was #1 for me. On to #2 tonight and more to follow. Ah! That's a lot of costumes I need to get/make/create! Good thing I love making outfits, this is going to be fun. I am thinking nerd tonight, basketball player, pirate? Who knows but I am going to have an awesome time!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN WEEKEND! LET THE FESTIVITIES BEGIN...OR CONTINUE.
XOXO.

Fuzzy Wuzzy Was A Bear

I got a case of the Mondays....kinda.

I feel like a giant nerd for saying this but I do really like the classes I am taking this semester. Since I am a senior and finishing up I basically get to take free electives and writing classes for my minor which is awesome because I get to blog and be creative! However sometimes I do get a case of the Mondays, you know the I-want-to-be-lazy-all-day-and-watch-Clueless type days. For some reason this blog keeps me going and supercharged because I love thinking up outfits and writing on them. I also love how I am getting a response from some of my followers, telling me that they really enjoy what I am writing about: that means so much to me! So thank you readers, I love you all (even though most of you are my sisters!)

Any who, today's outfit was pretty much a mish-mosh of inspiration. I have been reading a ton of magazines lately (procrastination from homework much?!?) and I have constantly seen fur, fur, fur! I am the kind of girl who loves the way fur looks but I am a little hesitant to own any. I guess I think the red-paint-PETA-protesters will bang on my door, douse me with paint and kick me in the stomach...am I dramatic? So while I doubt I would buy any real fur, I am loving faux fur, especially the Michael Kors vest I saw at Marshalls last week (dare I buy it?) My outfit today is a dedication to the furry, fuzzy, comfort that fur LOOKS like it provides, this is my take on it!

I am wearing my BASS medium wash jeans (go figure, you must think I shower in them I wear them so much) with a black target tank. These are great base pieces. While I was walking up a ginormous hill from the commuter lot to the memorial union today, I was thinking about the sex appeal of jeans. Blue jeans are just so causal, sexy, and natural and I am a firm believer that with a solid white or black t-shirt or tank anyone can look like "DIME PIECE." Moving on from my random thoughts in the early hours of the day...I am wearing my Adrienne Vittadini black short sleeve button down shirt purchased at TJ Maxx. She is such a great designer and creates some amazing lux pieces that are edgy yet polished, check out her website. I am also wearing my Minnetonka moccasins that I seem to be living in recently. I was such a huge Sperry-boat shoes freak last year. I apparently get really attached to shoes, wear them non-stop and then trade in for a new fix. Lastly, I am wearing my fuzzy, wuzzy, long sweater that is seriously the most comfortable sweater/jacket I have ever put on in my life. Me and my friend S both got one at Marshalls this past weekend (more shopping therapy because of crazy boys!) and I must urge everyone to go purchase this Marisa Christina jacket. They are available in tons of colors and patterns so I guarantee you will find something you love!

I really want to continue blogging and gain a following, can you lovely readers help? I feel like this blog can open tons of doors for me in the fashion and media industries. I want nothing more than to inspire people, and push myself to grow stylistically, in a fashion sense as well as a writing-sense. This blog seems to be my calling card. I never really knew what I wanted to do before this, but I am confident is saying I would love to pursue a job in the interactive world of fashion!

Have a great Monday & let me know what you are wearing!

The Longest Sleep Ever

Good Morning! I can say this very enthusiastically now, since last night I slept for over 12 hours! I took a nap at 5pm yesterday evening (I was so exhausted...overtired I think) and I woke up at 11:45pm only to fall back into a deep sleep and wake up at 7am this morning! I missed dinner, but don't worry, I had a delicious apple, yogurt and Kashi cereal parfait this morning and feel great. All I need to do now is get through my 3 classes, hit the gym (for a great workout) and then go to GNC to stock up on Vitamins because this girl's energy has been slacking. I am thinking about a woman's multivitamin, any suggestions?

For today, I am keeping it low key. I showered this morning, put on my makeup, scrunched my hair (LOW KEY RIGHT?) and told myself that today I was going to keep it very comfortable (almost PJ-esque). I decided to wear my favorite BASS jeans in a medium wash, I told you I wear them all the time! I paired my vintage Rolling Stones t-shirt which is made up of the softest cotton blend ever. I got it at Target, which doesn't make it real "vintage" but I use that term loosely because it is faded and looks vintage, so I will claim that it is, deal with it! I topped the shirt with my favorite long black waffle cardigan from the GAP. I got this at the outlets and wear it almost every other day. It looks awesome with everything, I think it is just a medium-long length which is very flattering with most pant/skirt/shorts/dress lengths. Lastly, I wore my Minnetonka Moccasins that I posted about yesterday (I really am getting so much use out of them).

Sorry for the shortness of today's post, I am getting back into the swing of things! I am going to get myself back to my fighting spirit and energy today. I think I am a pretty strong girl I can roll with the punches. Have a great Monday everyone!

PS: What do you do to gain more energy when your body is dragging?

Stylin' in My Dreams...Oh So Sleepy

Hey everyone! So this week has been really strange. Thanks to Mr. Columbus aka the discoverer of the New World, we didn't have classes on Monday. I am very happy about this, however it messed my whole week up. My sleep schedule was nonexistent and last night I decided to make up for lost time. The rain soothed me to sleep and I slept until 11:30am today! This have never happened in the history of my life! Good thing my first 2 classes were canceled! Anyway, I had to skip a shower (I know gross, don't judge, it happens!) and slipped into a comfortable outfit for my ONE class.

I decided to wear a super comfy gray short sleeve t-shirt from the GAP with a chest pocket detail. Over that t-shirt I wore a heather gray long cashmere cardigan with jeweled buttons that I got from the J. Crew outlets two summers ago. Me and my sister love that outlet, we stock up on sweaters and t-shirts every summer when the biggest sales take place. If you guys have TANGER or WRENTHAM outlets near you I highly advise you to go and partake in the amazing sales. I wore my favorite BASS jeans that I wear in so many posts on this lovely blog. I also wore a flannel scarf that I got at Target a few winters ago (which is a little too short for my liking). I really want to start buying fabric at craft stores and sewing my own scarves--that way I can choose the fabric and length of my own designer original scarf. Lastly, I wore my hunter green flats that I bought at Target last year. They are really comfortable and very broken in. I basically lived in them during my internship this summer, in fact, they need to replaced soon because the soles are absolutely nonexistent!

Sorry for the shortness of this post, I am literally exhausted...STILL! You would think I wouldn't be since I slept so long. Don't fret readers I will definitely be posting an outfit or two (oh my!) this weekend so look for some new posts. Thanks for reading, I love you all more than you can ever know. Anyway, I am off to get ready for my sorority social tonight! Have a great evening everyone.

Remember: DREAM IN TECHNICOLOR!
