Last Day of Classes!

Oh-my-gosh!
Today is the last day of classes and it is surreal; how can I be approaching my final semester of college? Time seriously goes way too fast, it's hard to catch my breath sometimes.
Just being in Rhode Island has been a great experience and a collage of images from my time at URI constantly plays in my mind; it will forever be on repeat, streaming through my entire body.
Just yesterday, as me and my roommate S were walking on Narragansett Beach, bundled in long, down, furry coats, scarves, gloves (thanks Grandma!), hats, and Uggs, I couldn't help but feel like I was living in a movie scene: staring out in to the deep sapphire ocean, watching brave surfers glide through the crashing tides, kicking the sand up with our boots, dancing on the seashells and staring at the boats on the horizon.
Sorry for the sappiness, but I am growing up so fast--AH!
Recently I have been filling out intent to graduate forms, spring internship paperwork, doing final projects and portfolios, going out to the bars to celebrate (successes, failures, love, loss?), decorating our Christmas tree (my house looks like Santa's workshop, thanks SYD!) and getting ready for formal. It seems like I have the most massive to-do list of life...but for some reason it makes me feel like I am really accomplishing a lot, and I am learning a lot about myself in the process: body image, time management, relationship issues (friends/boys...definitely not men!) and all the other issues a twenty-something girl deals with.

Here's my last day of classes (Fall Semester) outfit. Keep in mind, it is absolutely freezing so I wanted to stay warm. I also had to walk from the middle-of-no-where-commuter-lot, to the emporium to get my eyebrows waxed (hello formal on Sunday, and eyebrows are very important to keep groomed!) and back to Roosevelt Hall to get more internship forms (woo-hoo, not!); therefore I needed the Uggs today!
  • Jones New York, distressed red boat neck 3/4 sleeve t-shirt
  • Bass, medium wash jeans
  • Marshalls, gray leg warmers
  • Uggs, chestnut short
  • Gap, gray cardigan (not pictured)
  • Marshalls, mutli-colored circle scarf (not pictured)
So life is hectic, and I am loving every second of it...I don't know if it's the cold air blowing all around me or the anticipation of great things to come, but it feels so great to be alive!
There's a Holiday Mini-mall in the Union today...I need a little finals-week-pick-me-up. I saw some great hand-knit ear/neck warmers...do I dare?
I'll report back with my little splurges!
xoxo.

Repeat Offender

I may be going crazy, not quite sure, but for some reason I feel like I have worn this outfit before. The outfit is all basics, but I think the stripped cardigan I am wearing is so memorable that I feel like I am wearing this outfit all over again...okay, it is kind of similar...or exactly the same, minus different wash jeans and different shoes.
Oh well! Have you guys ever worn the same outfits and not even noticed?

Anyway, today is Monday and I think it will be the first and only day of classes for me this week. Yes, I do have classes on Wednesday but I am thinking I will bypass those and go home early for THANKSGIVING! I haven't even missed a class this semester so I think it is my obligation as a College Senior to finally skip some classes!
What does everyone have planned for Thanksgiving? Mine will hopefully be filled with great food, shopping expeditions with my sister and New York City bar nights (a girl can hope at least!) Also, I may need a new computer because my MacBook is biting the dust and it is really depressing, it is basically my lifeline!

Last night when I went to sleep I was seriously bummed, I guess I am just overwhelmed with little decisions that I need to make. Are these decisions that important or are they just distractions to break up the monotony of my daily life? Whose to know. But when I woke up this morning I was determined to start fresh, to not let the little things bring me down, to know that I am a great, beautiful person and I deserve everything that I want and I will not rest until I get it!
Sorry for my little rant/anthem, on to the outfit:
  1. BASS medium wash jeans
  2. Blue and white stripped J.Crew cardigan
  3. White Vintage Brand long sleeve t-shirt
  4. Brown tall boots with gold details
The outfit is pretty basic if I do say so myself.
I have a major question to pose: how do you avoid having your jeans get saggy around your knees when you tuck your pants into knee-high boots. That is my ultimate pet peeve. I hate when jeans bunch around your knees, it just looks so sloppy and messy. I tried tucking my jeans into my socks and pulling them tight when I step into my boots...I just can't solve this issue! Can someone be my jean-tucking-fairy-godmother and tell me the secrets to perfectly tucked jeans?
I think tomorrow I am going to post a list of things I really want to buy for the winter season, or maybe my ideal new years eve party dress? Whatever I decide I know it is going to be fabulous! I can't wait to go home and start shopping, I need some glitz and sparkle in the form of a new party dress and I especially can't wait to be with D so we can finally shop together after 3 months of being apart!

Hippie-Equestrian?

Hey everyone!
First off, I have a question: do you guys like when I post my outfits better, or post about things I like, or both? I am really trying to make my blog easy to relate to and want to get more followers, do you guys have any suggestions how to do this, it seems like a really hard task to accomplish. I know my blog is relatively new (2-3 months old) but I am actually obsessed with it. Any comments you can offer to improve the overall quality of Candidly Cassie would be greatly appreciated and very helpful!

Yesterday was quite a day, some things I did:
  • gym where I worked my butt out to the brim (1 hour of cardio, hoo-rah!)
  • food shopping (got to stock up on some Granny Smith Apples and Honey Sunshine Kashi cereal)
  • Walmart run for some new leggings (hello OP $5)
  • massive amount of homework (projects/papers--ew!)
  • beach walk with my friend James to clear my head
  • BIG LITTLE--I am officially a grand big to the cutest grand little in the world--WELCOME TO THE FAMILY BECCA!
  • Bonvue: can you say beer pong playing until 3am once we left the bar? Oh the perks of being 21
Anyway, although I was feeling the effects of last night when I woke up, I decided to pretify myself this morning so I can promote the "look good, feel good" mantra I preach on this blog!
Here is what I am wearing:
  1. Black OP leggings from Walmart ($5 and do not fall down like my forever21 one's...these are my new obsession)
  2. Black long sleeve J. Crew tissue tee bought from the outlets a few summers ago
  3. Tall black BASS riding boots
  4. Forever21 turquoise beaded tunic
  5. GAP Waffle cardigan (not pictured) that I seem to wear every day of my life (I even wore it to the gym on Wednesday, what!!!)

So the reason why I call this post Hippie-Equestrian...I have all the elements of an equestrian look--black leggings aka standing in as my riding pants, black tall leather riding boots, and a fitted black long sleeve shirt. However, the beaded turquoise tunic gives the look a little hippie/boho flair which is why I combined the two...how clever am I?

Okay lovely readers, I am off to do some work and plan out my weekend...I have a "P" party tonight where everyone must dress up as something that starts with the letter "P." Any suggestions on what I should be? Have a great weekend and look for some new posts! Again, please follow if you read: I will bake you cookies! XOXO

Gliteratti

Hi beautiful, strong, independent, amazing readers!

I hope you all "loved your body" on "love your body" day! I know I did, I really think I consciously tried to appreciate everything my body provides me: strength, endurance, health and beauty! We are all different and need to embrace that! I know that although there are certain things I see in others, that I wish I possessed or had, I would never want to be anyone other than me! What did you ladies learn about yourselves?

For my outfit today I tried to embrace the chilly winter, by wrapping a comfy sequin scarf around my neck. I love sequins and have been craving a black sequin mini skirt forever! I am on the lookout so let me know where you have seen any, preferably a cheap one because I am not willing to spend a lot of money on trend items, large sums of money are specifically spent on classic investment pieces (ex: Burberry trench coat, Ralph Lauren cashmere sweaters, Tory Burch Reva flats, etc.). So I wore my black Forever21 leggings (wow, I wear these a lot, who knew I would love leggings so much. Oh and I swear I have more than 1 pair!) I wore a long-sleeve gray tunic by Kenzie that I got at Marshalls (clearance rack!) with my GAP black long waffle cardigan. I paired the whole outfit with my Minnetonka Moccasins. Lastly, I draped my neck with my cranberry sequin knit scarf from Express but purchased at Marshalls for $7.00 about 2 days ago.

Today is a crisp fall day and I definitely was freezing in my outfit but at least I looked cute, or I think so. Anyway, I am off to get myself organized for the weekend. I am on a cleaning binge so I am going to break out the vacuum cleaner and Clorox wipes. I need to get myself ready for the "Cowboy and Indian" party we are having tonight, meaning I must finish making my Pocahontas inspired outfit, wish me luck! Have a great Friday night everyone!

FYI: I am obsessed with Katy Perry's new song- Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F). It's amazing!
"Last Friday night
Yeah I think we broke the law
Always say we're gonna stop-op
Whoa-oh-oah
This Friday night
Do it all again"

Where Is My Horse?

Hey lovely followers (and hopefully soon to be followers!)

This morning when I woke up I was in a great mood. You know that feeling? Kind of like when you have a new crush, and you have butterflies in your stomach (the good kind) and you can't keep smiling, and every song that comes on your itunes seems to be the perfect mix of tempo, rhyme, and rhythm? It was the kind of morning where "Drops of Jupiter" by Train and "Mine" by Taylor Swift were on repeat and dancing around my bedroom seemed to be oh so natural. For some reason while I was laying in my bed thinking about today's post (TODAY IS LOVE YOUR BODY DAY) I glanced out the window and saw the most beautiful pile of colorful leaves on my lawn. It seems to be a little early for leaves on the ground, but I love the changing seasons and I am embracing autumn. Anyway, I thought back to when I was younger, horseback riding in my cute riding jodhpurs, boots and velvet helmet. I was inspired by the equestrian look today, and it's about time, since I literally have been cutting out every RALPH LAUREN AD I have seen recently. They are just so classic, sophisticated and preppy--is it sad that I envision myself in one every time I get dressed? Oh well, we all have our little quirks.

Today I am wearing my black Forever21 leggings as a base. They fit perfectly into the boots I am wearing. Don't you hate when your jeans are too bulky to tuck into boots? That is a major pet peeve of mine. Anyway, I decided to wear a half button blue long sleeve blouse that I got at Marshalls and seen in this post. On top of the blouse I am wearing my Bass cream colored cardigan (sans buttons), which just seems flow-y, but it has structured shoulders which stands in for my nonexistent riding jacket. Disclaimer: I fully plan on buying a Ralph Lauren or Yves Saint Laurent blazer once I am rich and rolling in the MON-AY! Lastly, I am wearing my brown boots that I got in a boutique in New York City last winter break. The great thing about these boots is that they zip from the bottom to the top of the boot which makes tucking in pants so much easier, like I said earlier I hate when jeans/pants don't tuck properly in boots. It looks messy, feels uncomfortable, and is just plain miserable. I know my boots are brown and I am wearing black leggings, but for some reason I really love the contrast. One of the bloggers I follow, at The Classic Case, posted about combining black leggings/tights and brown boots yesterday. I guess that was in my mind because I love the contrast too. Follow her blog because she has a great writing style and sense of style--what a combination, right?

Okay, well I am going to attempt to do some of my homework. I have a big weekend ahead of me (even though it's only hump day) I am going to think ahead. It's homecoming weekend so we have a big football game complete with tailgating and an alumni BBQ for my sorority sisters that graduated! I can't wait to see everyone. Oh and also a "Cowboys and Indians" social this Friday! I am fully prepared to channel my inner Pocahontas, I am so excited! I will post more about my "Indian" outfit on Friday, I hope it will be done by then. I hope everyone has a great day, embrace the fall, it's beautiful out!

PS: Everyone remember to "love your body" because you are beautiful and confident, strong and determined and you can do whatever you set your mind to. This is what I keep telling myself and I firmly believe in the motto "look good, feel good!" So do something for yourself today that makes you feel great. I picked out a killer outfit to make me feel good (dress wise). I am going to go to the gym after class today and work on my body. As for spirit, I am going to keep the happy mood flowing, the endorphins will help later when I start dragging around 3pm. But seriously, do something to make you love yourself today.
If you love yourself you will learn how to love your body too. It's a work in progress but it is so worth it!
