I Dream in Lanvin

Happy Easter!

I wish either one of these flats would appear in my Easter basket! I have been lusting over Lanvin two-tone leather ballerina flats since the beginning of the school year. However, I can't seem to justify or finance the $570 price tag. Enter Banana Republic's Scotty essential flat. Although still $98, it is a fraction of the price of the Lanvin's and I am hoping that student discount/coupons/in-store-deals will knock the price down even more!

What do you wish was in your Easter Basket?

Ballerina Bun

I have been wanting to try a ballerina bun for a while now...I always hide behind my long hair though. It's always been a type of security blanket for me. Usually my long, wavy, brown hair can hide all of my discomfort and apprehension to a situation; but recently I have been wanting to break out of my shell. What better way to expose myself then to have my whole face on display for the world to see? Okay, at least on display to the state of Rhode Island. Today I am wearing:

Cardigan: GAP, T-shirt: GAP (pocket style), Harem Pants: Forever21, Flats: GAP, Necklace: gifted from Grandma

Does anyone else hide behind their hair?

Keepin' It Real

What's the best fashion advice you have ever heard? Recently magazines keep urging us to wear what is comfortable and what is most familiar. While I love testing the limits (sometimes...baby steps) I am definitely most comfortable in a cardigan, jeans, a button-down shirt and flats. There is something about the comfort of all these individual pieces; funnily, the simplicity of all my fashion staples combined creates a pretty polished and glossy look. Today I am "keepin' it real," totally simple:
Cardigan: H&M, Button-down: Verve, Jeans: Forever21, Flats: Steve Madden, Watch: Michael Kors

If you are "keepin' it real" what do you wear?

Friday Fancies

Good morning! It's raining cats and dogs here in Rhode Island! Can I write a more cliche statement? NO! But that expression is the only way to really communicate how hard it is raining by my house--the not so gentle rain drops and gusting wind woke me up this morning...If you are new to my blog, Fridays are dedicated to the fancy things we wish we could afford but just dream about instead. It is a great little game invented by {av} at {long distance loving}, check out her blog and see what her picks are for today!
I was inspired by the rain this morning (I wonder why...darn RI rainstorms) and thought to myself: "Cassie, what would you want to wear if it was warm and springy...but gently drizzling?" "Well Cassie," I replied, "I would be wearing..."

What would you wear if you had a money tree?
Happy Friday!

What's on Your Head?

Hi!!! Thank you all so much for your sweet comments on my Valentine's Day post! I really do feel like it's a day to celebrate all types of love, not just the romantic kind...although I can't wait until I have a special guy in my life that I can share it with! But I have this theory that when you are in love, everyday seems like Valentines day (maybe I am just a HUGE romantic...oh well!)
Anyway, my post is called "What's on your head?" because I felt like I was getting weird looks today when I wore my silk scarf as a head wrap. Yes, I know I am probably being paranoid and yes, I have been Google-stalking Nicole Richie (now Madden...is it now Richie-Madden?) and I can't get enough of her bohemian look. It seems like she has every scarf made by the late Alexander McQueen, and I am insanely jealous of her collection of beautiful silk. So despite my attempt to channel Nicole Richie (maybe I failed?) and my need for Spring (there are flower details on the scarf), I still tried to act confident while walking around my windy and cold campus! My outfit consisted of:
Jeans: Forever21, Sweater: Gap, Scarf (worn as a head wrap): OSCAR by Oscar de la Renta, Flats: GAP, Necklace: Initials on Silver plate (gifted from Aunt)

Do you ever feel like people are staring at you for some of your fashion choices?
Am I just being paranoid?!
Have a great Tuesday, I am off to get some homework done...boo!

Seeing Spots

It is freezing this morning!
I was starting to get comfortable with the whole flip flops and t-shirts in October kind of thing. But since it is now officially November I think that it makes sense that my toes are frozen solid in my GAP flats!
This weekend was so much fun and I am officially HALLOWEENED out! 4 nights of festivities is just way too much. I got about 5 hours of sleep a night since Thursday, but that's college for ya right?!?

Anyway, this morning when I got dressed all I wanted to do was be comfortable so this is what I wore:
I started off with my medium wash BASS jeans. Let me clarify, I own abut 4 pairs of jeans from BASS (I know I wear them all the time but it's because they are the perfect amount of stretch and stiffness, and YOU CAN NOT GET THAT EVERYWHERE!) I just washed this pair too so they are tight in all the right places, nothing beats freshly washed and dried jeans....NOTHING!
On top I decided to wear a black button down (3/4 length) blouse that I got on clearance at Marshalls.

Word to all my faithful readers: check the clearance racks at places like Marshalls and TJ Maxx first because usually their discounted items are amazingly cheap and out of this world!

I decided to wear my blue GAP denim ruffle flats...again! I think I posted once about my random fixations on certain items and how I wear them until I basically can't anymore. Funnily enough this is turning into one of those types of things...again. This summer I lived in these flats, then got bored with them, threw them in the back of my closet (well actually meticulously placed because I have closet organization OCD) only to return to them...right now!

But remember my whole motto on a statement piece: let the other aspects of your outfit be basics? Well, I am trying the animal print trend. I am not a huge pattern/print type of gal. I can appreciate it on others and subtly mix it into my style, but it is not my thing. However, I really wanted to try a splash of leopard print in my life and did through the gray leopard print scarf.

Funny story about this scarf: I went with my friend to Walmart to get a Halloween costume for him and he decided on a camouflage t-shirt, plastic machete and black bandanna (a type of soldier in the wilderness type? who knows!) Although the drive to Walmart took forever (thank you 25mph speed limits everywhere in Rhode Island) it was necessary because he wanted to spend his $30 Walmart gift card...because most college students have Walmart gift cards. Anyway, for taking the trip he bought me this $5.00 scarf and to be quite honest it is so comfortable I think I want to go back and get more!

Lastly, I threw on my GAP long black waffle cardigan (here and almost every other post!) because it is so chilly out, and let me say this did not warm me up, I really need to look for a new winter coat...a long length, super comfortable, plush, piece of amazingness might I add!

Oh, and accessories: I decided to wear my favorite beaded ring that my aunt got for me (seen here).

I hope everyone has a great Monday!
Stay WARM!
