Color Rut

Remember when I told y'all (yup, I just said "y'all") about my last sorority meeting. Well, during the roast given to me by my little, I was told that I ALWAYS dress in black. I will admit it. While I'm partial to blacks and beige's I'm determined to break out of my color rut. Thankfully, spring is the perfect time to do so!

Seeing Spots

It is freezing this morning!
I was starting to get comfortable with the whole flip flops and t-shirts in October kind of thing. But since it is now officially November I think that it makes sense that my toes are frozen solid in my GAP flats!
This weekend was so much fun and I am officially HALLOWEENED out! 4 nights of festivities is just way too much. I got about 5 hours of sleep a night since Thursday, but that's college for ya right?!?

Anyway, this morning when I got dressed all I wanted to do was be comfortable so this is what I wore:
I started off with my medium wash BASS jeans. Let me clarify, I own abut 4 pairs of jeans from BASS (I know I wear them all the time but it's because they are the perfect amount of stretch and stiffness, and YOU CAN NOT GET THAT EVERYWHERE!) I just washed this pair too so they are tight in all the right places, nothing beats freshly washed and dried jeans....NOTHING!
On top I decided to wear a black button down (3/4 length) blouse that I got on clearance at Marshalls.

Word to all my faithful readers: check the clearance racks at places like Marshalls and TJ Maxx first because usually their discounted items are amazingly cheap and out of this world!

I decided to wear my blue GAP denim ruffle flats...again! I think I posted once about my random fixations on certain items and how I wear them until I basically can't anymore. Funnily enough this is turning into one of those types of things...again. This summer I lived in these flats, then got bored with them, threw them in the back of my closet (well actually meticulously placed because I have closet organization OCD) only to return to them...right now!

But remember my whole motto on a statement piece: let the other aspects of your outfit be basics? Well, I am trying the animal print trend. I am not a huge pattern/print type of gal. I can appreciate it on others and subtly mix it into my style, but it is not my thing. However, I really wanted to try a splash of leopard print in my life and did through the gray leopard print scarf.

Funny story about this scarf: I went with my friend to Walmart to get a Halloween costume for him and he decided on a camouflage t-shirt, plastic machete and black bandanna (a type of soldier in the wilderness type? who knows!) Although the drive to Walmart took forever (thank you 25mph speed limits everywhere in Rhode Island) it was necessary because he wanted to spend his $30 Walmart gift card...because most college students have Walmart gift cards. Anyway, for taking the trip he bought me this $5.00 scarf and to be quite honest it is so comfortable I think I want to go back and get more!

Lastly, I threw on my GAP long black waffle cardigan (here and almost every other post!) because it is so chilly out, and let me say this did not warm me up, I really need to look for a new winter coat...a long length, super comfortable, plush, piece of amazingness might I add!

Oh, and accessories: I decided to wear my favorite beaded ring that my aunt got for me (seen here).

Stylin' in My Dreams...Oh So Sleepy

Hey everyone! So this week has been really strange. Thanks to Mr. Columbus aka the discoverer of the New World, we didn't have classes on Monday. I am very happy about this, however it messed my whole week up. My sleep schedule was nonexistent and last night I decided to make up for lost time. The rain soothed me to sleep and I slept until 11:30am today! This have never happened in the history of my life! Good thing my first 2 classes were canceled! Anyway, I had to skip a shower (I know gross, don't judge, it happens!) and slipped into a comfortable outfit for my ONE class.

I decided to wear a super comfy gray short sleeve t-shirt from the GAP with a chest pocket detail. Over that t-shirt I wore a heather gray long cashmere cardigan with jeweled buttons that I got from the J. Crew outlets two summers ago. Me and my sister love that outlet, we stock up on sweaters and t-shirts every summer when the biggest sales take place. If you guys have TANGER or WRENTHAM outlets near you I highly advise you to go and partake in the amazing sales. I wore my favorite BASS jeans that I wear in so many posts on this lovely blog. I also wore a flannel scarf that I got at Target a few winters ago (which is a little too short for my liking). I really want to start buying fabric at craft stores and sewing my own scarves--that way I can choose the fabric and length of my own designer original scarf. Lastly, I wore my hunter green flats that I bought at Target last year. They are really comfortable and very broken in. I basically lived in them during my internship this summer, in fact, they need to replaced soon because the soles are absolutely nonexistent!

Sorry for the shortness of this post, I am literally exhausted...STILL! You would think I wouldn't be since I slept so long. Don't fret readers I will definitely be posting an outfit or two (oh my!) this weekend so look for some new posts. Thanks for reading, I love you all more than you can ever know. A Button-Down Feeling

Hey there! So I am back with yet another fashion post, this time I am showing an outfit that I wore to class on Friday. The sun was shining and there was a crisp breeze. I love this weather in September because it isn't too hot or too cold, it is just perfect! I thought the best thing to wear would be cut off jean shorts (why not wear them when I still can get away with it) and a button down blue long sleeve t-shirt. I accessorized my outfit with a brown and studded leather belt as well as brown leather sandals (not pictured.)

The jean shorts I got at American Eagle years ago. What I love about jean shorts is their ability to be dressed up or down. I have worn these shorts to class, the movies, BBQ's as well as nice restaurants. It is all about the accessories you pair with the jean shorts as well as the shirt/tank tops/cardigans you wear on top! The blue shirt I wear I got at Marshalls. It is a half-button type shirt which I really love because it is kind of tunic-esque. I could pair the shirt with leggings, or even wear it belted as a dress, it is very functional and that is something I look for in every piece that I buy. The leather belt that I am wearing I found at Hollister. I am not a huge Hollister fan, mostly because I am not into big trendy stores who label every piece of clothing with a huge BIRD (Hollister) or MOOSE (Abercrombie & Fitch.) However, the accessory was amazing, engraved and studded brown leather which was neither gaudy or over-embellished. I wear this belt all the time. I highly encourage you to invest in a belt like this. You can wear it in the belt loops of shorts and pants, or belted around a dress to cinch the waist and create a more feminine shape. Lastly, the shoes (not pictured, but I wear them all the time so you will see them soon, I promise!) are brown gladiator sandals from Bass. I love these sandals because they can be dressed up or down and have a great bohemian flair to them. I always feel very KATE HUDSON when I wear them!

I think part of style is makeup and hair so I may describe these elements occasionally. For school I like to keep things natural and light. I basically use a foundation, mineral blush, bronzer, tan eyeshadow, and brown eyeliner. I obviously spritz myself with my favorite fragrances: Marc Jacobs Daisy or Burberry London. As for my hair I have the mentality:

"LONG HAIR DON'T CARE"
and I love to wear my hair down loose and natural.
