Color Rut

Remember when I told y'all (yup, I just said "y'all") about my last sorority meeting. Well, during the roast given to me by my little, I was told that I ALWAYS dress in black. I will admit it. While I'm partial to blacks and beige's I'm determined to break out of my color rut. Thankfully, spring is the perfect time to do so!

Sun-shiny Day

Don't you love the spring? I sure do. I woke up this morning to birds chirping and let me tell you something, I haven't seen such a pretty, sun-shiny morning in quite some time. Spring really does bring out the best in me...for starters just putting on a spring-time outfit puts me in a good mood. I love seeing the bold pops of color everywhere I look, and how can a girl be anything but deliriously happy when she is twirling around in a flowy dress holding a bunch of sunflowers that she just picked up from the Farmer's market? (hopefully this happens this upcoming weekend!). Anyway, how great is this picture? I love the salmon color cropped pants, the rustic belt and the gingham print top! I think I found my outfit inspiration for the day!

I Know it's Sunny but...

For some reason I woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning. I have been trying to keep my thoughts on graduating to the bare minimum (acknowledging that I must apply for jobs, buy my cap and gown, move out of my beautiful beach house that I share with my three best friends) but I just can't keep anything inside any longer. Despite the beautiful weather that I woke up to, after a weekend filled with wind and rain, I just can't put a smile on my face. In the past I have let my emotions dictate my entire day, not anymore! I am determined to make myself happy and here's how:

1. Buy fresh flowers: I love Gerber daisies!
2. Phone a friend/loved one: even a little 5 minute chat can make me smile
3. Nail polish: nothing like a bright, cheery red to improve my mood
4. Clean, dance, sing: spring cleaning while blasting GLEE

Any recent grads have any advice on how to cope?

Shades of Pink + Straw

It's raining...still. I need springtime sunshine right now! What's getting me though the day? J. Crew's Spring 2011 look book and Tory Burch's blog (read here). I definitely need some hot pink and straw in my life! What about you? I really want to try some monochromatic looks this spring...and I have a feeling that I would always be happy if I had this Tory Burch striped straw tote on my arm (it's the simple things in life, right?)

I'm Back...and I want some Banana!

It feels amazing to be back home, but Spring Break was a ton of fun and I can't wait to share my pictures with all of you! Thank you so much for all of your comments while I was away--I had the biggest smile on my face when I finally checked my blog after being away for a week (I was really starting to miss reading/sharing posts with all of you--can't wait to catch up, it's been TOO long!) Anyway, silly me forgot to bring my camera cord home so I will have to do a picture post later in the week. But don't think I am leaving you hanging...obviously I have some news to share. Poppy Red & Camel

I have been dreaming in this color palate recently...there is something so springy and fresh about poppy red! However, I love that when you mix basic and neutral camel colors in the mix, poppy red goes from WHAM-BLAM-IN-YOUR-FACE to a color of understated elegance, and adds just the right amount of POW to an outfit! After looking at Tory Burch's take on the red trend (on her blog, click here), I am certain I will be buying something (or a few things) that are prettily-poppy this season! What color combination are you loving?

Get Me Jewel Tones...Pronto!

Yesterdays post left me with a really bad case of SPRING FEVER! I just feel it in the air...I am starting my spring cleaning (a massive purge of all the cold weather staples I thankfully do not need anymore!) and embracing the sunshine and light breeze! I have been so inspired by the pretty jewel tones that were popping all over the catwalks during NY Fashion Week...my two favorites? Gucci and Louis Vuitton! There is something so sophisticated about jewel tones. I could wear a t-shirt, and if it's jewel-toned, I instantly feel dressy and chic. The colors make me feel like a Arabian princess (okay, Jasmine from Aladdin reference!) flying on a magic carpet. I'm corny and cheesy right now...but how can you not be? I wish you could all see the sunlight flooding into my bedroom window; I can see the gentle rocking of the waves hitting the rocks of the beach and I am feeling pure and utter bliss!

Come on Spring!

Hey guys! You know those mornings when you wake up and you are in a great mood? Well today when I woke up the birds seemed to be chirping (it didn't even annoy me), the sun was high in the sky, there was fresh frosty snow on the ground, and weather.com alerted me that today would be a high of 32 degrees. All these things contributed to my great mood...I feel spring fever coming on. Don't you love it when the shift of winter to spring starts becoming a little more noticeable? Hurry up, hurry up!!! I want sandals and seersucker shorts, bikinis and fedoras! Anyway, this is what I am wearing today:
