Cruise in Sight

Despite the blizzard (thank you Rhode Island) I am very, very, VERY excited for my upcoming spring break cruise to the Bahamas with my friends. Obviously I needed some inspirational images to get me through the drab snowstorm. Don't get me wrong, I love snow but I don't love getting snowed in (even with my shoveling attempts accompanied by minor successes). I have horrible cabin-fever and just want to leave; go to the gym, go to the grocery store, I don't care but I just want to get out!
Anyway, I usually am not a big Louis Vuitton fan. While I do think some things under this major design house are classics (ex: The Speedy bag), I am just not a big "huge-logo-on-every-possible-surface-of-the-product" kind of girl. I am more of an understated lady, favoring brands like Cole Haan and Michael Kors. Regardless, the Louis Vuitton cruise ware for 2010 and 2011 is amazing...If I could only look this glam and sophisticated while I go on my cruise. However, with boys and girls chugging countless beers while tanning on the sunny decks of the cruise ship for several days I am thinking most will favor a laid-back look.
How is everyone spending their days stranded inside? Or are you one of the lucky ones that is in a sunny state with no snow and the ability to leave your house? Tell me everything!

The perfect strapless party dress! I love the print!
Aviators? Check. Ankle booties? Check. Clean lined jacket and matching mini? Check!
So lady like. I love the huge statement pieces in this picture...and those floral flats!

Beach Before the Blizzard

Today was a pretty good day: gym, grocery store, beach walk with my roommate N & a massive cleaning/rearranging of my room. In preparation for the upcoming blizzard my roommates and I are doing the responsible thing...going to the bar for pitchers of $5 beer & sangria (not mixed of course!) Again I don't have a quality outfit, sweats are a way of life during cold weather months, if I'm not going anywhere that is. I will try and post again later if I wear something good to the bar. Ah! I'm talking in circles right now, it's only because I have been cleaning so much...I think the Lysol and Windex infiltrated my mind. Anyway, here are some pictures of the beach!

The Weekly Weigh In

Hey guys! So I came across this great little blogging "project" over at Fashion Therapist (by the way it's an awesome blog so check it out!) Every Sunday Tabitha does a WEEKLY WEIGH IN. The weigh in is like a motivating tool to make sure that she is staying on top of new years resolutions; I definitely want to try it out. The weigh in is a series of questions and answers (so truthfully ponder, reflect & question yourself and your actions and behaviors). Here are the questions and my answers if you want to do this little "weigh-in" too!
Weekly Weigh-In:  Week 1
1.  What is the thing that you're most proud of this week that helped you with your 2011 goals/resolutions?  This sounds like a silly thing to be proud of but...I gave my body some rest. I constantly push myself nonstop when it comes to exercise and I recently bruised my tailbone (again!) It is always so hard for me to rest and take time off when my body needs to recover. However, I have given my body suitable time to rest and I feel a lot better.
2.  Is there anything that you wish you did this week, but didn't?  I wish I didn't get into so many little arguments with my sister (and my family). I think little "squabbles" are so immature and pointless but for some reason they happen. Regardless, I am leaving for Spring semester today and wish some of my moments home were not filled with petty arguments (Side note: I know that I love my family more than anything.)
3.  Is there something/someone in particular that motivated you this week?  I was motivated by my mother this week. She always tells me things, CONSTANTLY, whether it is asked for or not but she really has one of the best perspectives on life (more so than anyone else I know).
4.  Did you learn anything from the things you did this week?  I learned that although breakdowns happen (my future and the "unknown" are my biggest concerns) I can't do anything about that now. I just need to embrace the future but most importantly enjoy the present because I will never get to relieve the awesome times I am going through right now.
5.  How will you work towards the goals you've set for yourself in the upcoming week?  This week I'm going to make sure I stay in control. I am not going to panic when things don't go exactly as I hoped. I am going to make sure I contact a member of my family every day (even if it's just to say "I love you," yeah I'm sappy...). Also, I am going to slowly fall back into my workout routine (I know I need to take it easy but I really miss it). Lastly, I am going to spend every moment reminding myself that I need to have FUN because that's what life is all about.

What about everyone else?
What is your WEEKLY WEIGH IN?

Leather on a Sunday

This is a really short post because I am PACKING my life up again...destination: Rhode Island, my last semester of undergrad. While this is semi-sad (and when I say this I must admit that I have cried numerous times over the course of this break, wondering where all the time has gone) I am really excited to start my internship and gain some MAJOR EXPERIENCE in the Fashion PR and interactive world.
I have been totally inspired by LEATHER JACKETS lately and I really, really, REALLY want one! Today my mom spotted a beautiful Michael Kors Leather Biker Jacket at Marshalls, sadly it was not purchased (I definitely would have snagged that on my next trip home). But here is a little leather inspiration found at the blog, Blog de Luv Aj, check it out for awesome fashion shots.
Happy Sunday!
What do you think of a leather vest, leather skirt & a tucked in button-down?
Sexy & edgy yet still polished!

Happy Saturday

I know it's only 10:30(ish) in the morning but I already feel so productive. I went spinning (in my basement, couldn't make it to the gym this morning due to snow), finished Kelly Cutrone's book If You Have to Cry Go Outside and Other Things Your Mother Never Told You, and made my To-Do List for the day. Definitely read Kelly's book if you are interested in the Fashion Industry, Public Relations, or Just want some motivation and inspiration. I have so much to do before I go back to school on Monday; I am going back early so I can start my internship...I can't wait to post about that later this month!
Here is what I'm loving today...
InStyle February 2011 Edition (about to go purchase), Kelly Cutrone's Book (READ IT!), Pretty Bicycle (better than my stationary bike in the cold basement), Sparkling Water Lime flavor (best drink ever), Essie Nail Polish (manicure later today!)

Snow Bunny

So it's snowing and I have been house trapped for a majority of the day. Despite the mediocre amount of cabin-fever I am feeling I'm happy because...
  • I finished the book Seven Year Switch by Claire Cook--I recommend this to anyone who needs a little pick-me-up. This book made me realize that despite the challenges and setbacks that have happened/will happen to me in my life, it is possible to start fresh and be happy.
  • I keep getting flashbacks to my afternoon/evening (yesterday) in New York City with my sister and mom. We really had so much fun and it makes me realize how blessed I really am.
  • I organized my room and found some odds & ends I forgot about; it was like a treasure hunt in here!
  • The giant snowflakes falling from the sky make me think about how big and full the world really is.
Is it snowing by you? How do you spend snowy days?

Shop-Happy

As I announced earlier, I went shopping in New York City with my mom and sister today. We literally had the BEST DAY EVER! My family has been hit with a lot this past year and it's a great feeling knowing that we can get though anything together...I couldn't be a happier girl right now!
We went shopping, walked around the east side and had some lunch. In regards to the shopping...WHAM BLAM! Best sales ever! I got 4 things in total and I love absolutely everything I bought. I am starting to adapt a more adult-style wardrobe. I don't know if it's my anticipation of entering the workforce or just loving more structured and classy pieces, but I have definitely been looking for QUALITY OVER QUANTITY!

Scores of the day include...
Zara Long Sleeve Blouse with Bow

Zara Pleated Corduroy Trousers

Zara Printed Blouse

What do you guys think about my clothing picks? Do you go for more trendy items or more classic pieces?
