The Weekly Weigh In (# 2)

Hey guys! I know, two posts in one day...well I have a lot to say and a lot of tension to break. I have my first day of my internship at StyleWeek Providence tonight! This is what I am wearing:
Target: black blazer, Forever21: black harem pants, Gap: black pocket t-shirt, Belt: borrowed from Mom, Watch: Michael Kors, Barrett: Century 21, Shoes: BCBG Girls Wedge

Weekly Weigh In (# 2)
1.  What is the thing that you're most proud of this week that helped you with your 2011 goals/resolutions? Talked out my problems and feelings with my family and friends when things were bothering me and stressing me out! It's better to clear the air around you then hold things in and have all that toxic energy swimming in your body!
2.  Is there anything that you wish you did this week, but didn't? I wish I didn't let the petty things that boys do affect me because I know I am so much better & stronger than that!
3.  Is there something/someone in particular that motivated you this week? My sister constantly shows me that there is always a chance for a fresh start even when you are faced with the biggest and hardest challenges.
4.  Did you learn anything from the things you did this week? I learned that sometimes acknowledging your problems and flaws is half the battle. You can only be yourself so stop thinking that someone lives a better or more glamorous life than you; everyone has problems, accept yours and embrace the beauty in your life.
5.  How will you work towards the goals you've set for yourself in the upcoming week? I am going to make sure every day I wake up and smile, because that will start my day off right. I also want to make sure to always greet people warmly even if I am not particularly happy because I need to learn to "fake it 'till I make it!"

Anyone doing the Weekly Weigh In with The Fashion Therapist and I?

*Sorry for the horrible pictures, I really want a camera tripod so I can take self-timer shots on my digital camera instead of depending on Apple Photo booth

10 Things I Learned This Weekend

So I found a new blog this weekend, Being Brazen, and I can not stop going through all of her posts! This South African blogger posts inspirational images, quotes, and has a fresh perspective on life as well as fashion; if you're anything like me you will love her blog! Check it out here!
Anyway, she does a post each Monday called "10 Things I Learned This Weekend" and I figured I would give it a go since I did learn so much! However, I may start doing this post on Sundays and do my "Weekly Weigh In" on Monday, just like blogger the Fashion Therapist, who did a lovely shout-out to me during her WWI post yesterday, thanks girl!

10 Things I Learned This Weekend!
  1. No matter how many times you argue & fight, family always sticks around
  2. Having a lot of alone time can really help you put things in perspective
  3. Starting a new job (or internship!) is always going to be scary but it is an adventure
  4. Going out of your comfort zone is necessary if you want to branch out and meet new people
  5. You DO NOT need to chug a whole pitcher of Sangria at Charlie O's to have a great time
  6. Spending a few dollars for some "cheap thrills" at the dollar store is sometimes just as good as a major splurge at Nordstrom's!
  7. Blogging is not a competition but a real opportunity to connect with others and start friendships (thanks to Fashion Therapist, Julie Go Lean, The Oatmeal Diaries, and In Staley's Atmosphere for being awesome new blog friends!)
  8. Exercise can be the cure to stress and anxiety but sometimes a new magazine and hot shower will do.
  9. I love JollyTime Kettle Corn a little way, way, WAY too much!
  10. It's fun thinking about what I learned this week...this is going to be a weekly post, thanks for the idea Being Brazen!
Did you learn anything new this weekend? Also, if you like reading/want to know more about me then please follow my blog, follow me on twitter and/or leave me comments because it really makes me smile!
This painting entitled "Pollux" by Casey O'Connell is totally isnpiring me!

The Weekly Weigh In

Hey guys! So I came across this great little blogging "project" over at Fashion Therapist (by the way it's an awesome blog so check it out!) Every Sunday Tabitha does a WEEKLY WEIGH IN. The weigh in is like a motivating tool to make sure that she is staying on top of new years resolutions; I definitely want to try it out. The weigh in is a series of questions and answers (so truthfully ponder, reflect & question yourself and your actions and behaviors). Here are the questions and my answers if you want to do this little "weigh-in" too!
Weekly Weigh-In:  Week 1
1.  What is the thing that you're most proud of this week that helped you with your 2011 goals/resolutions?  This sounds like a silly thing to be proud of but...I gave my body some rest. I constantly push myself nonstop when it comes to exercise and I recently bruised my tailbone (again!) It is always so hard for me to rest and take time off when my body needs to recover. However, I have given my body suitable time to rest and I feel a lot better.
2.  Is there anything that you wish you did this week, but didn't?  I wish I didn't get into so many little arguments with my sister (and my family). I think little "squabbles" are so immature and pointless but for some reason they happen. Regardless, I am leaving for Spring semester today and wish some of my moments home were not filled with petty arguments (Side note: I know that I love my family more than anything.)
3.  Is there something/someone in particular that motivated you this week?  I was motivated by my mother this week. She always tells me things, CONSTANTLY, whether it is asked for or not but she really has one of the best perspectives on life (more so than anyone else I know).
4.  Did you learn anything from the things you did this week?  I learned that although breakdowns happen (my future and the "unknown" are my biggest concerns) I can't do anything about that now. I just need to embrace the future but most importantly enjoy the present because I will never get to relieve the awesome times I am going through right now.
5.  How will you work towards the goals you've set for yourself in the upcoming week?  This week I'm going to make sure I stay in control. I am not going to panic when things don't go exactly as I hoped. I am going to make sure I contact a member of my family every day (even if it's just to say "I love you," yeah I'm sappy...). Also, I am going to slowly fall back into my workout routine (I know I need to take it easy but I really miss it). Lastly, I am going to spend every moment reminding myself that I need to have FUN because that's what life is all about.

What about everyone else?
What is your WEEKLY WEIGH IN?

What I Want: Jeweled Headband

My mindset for the holidays is "'tis the season to be sparkly!" Christmas trees and wreaths, sequined party-dresses and loads of glimmery and shimmery stars and lights just make me want to douse myself in glitter and run through the snowy streets singing "All I Want for Christmas is You!" Now that was a mouth-full!
Although the "holiday" season is technically over I refuse to stop incorporating a little razzle-dazzle into my wardrobe. My new obsession? Jeweled Headbands! There are so many ways to wear them: wrap them around your wrist and voila: a glam bracelet. Wear them traditional style on your head as a head band, breaking up the monotony of a regular pony tail or bun. But my favorite...gypsy style, a type of chic-karate-kid! But seriously, it is boho and elegant, seen on the fashion runway of designer Betsey Johnson and on celebrities like Ally Hilfiger and Paris Hilton. I am off to look for a jeweled headband today! Where should I look? Forever21? Urban Outfitters? Let me know!
