NYC is calling...

Going into the city today with my mom and sister! I'll be back later with a proper post, but for now...a little NYC SATC inspiration!

Tribute to JT & JB

This is a late post for me...usually I am a morning-poster. Actually, I am a morning everything. I love waking up early, sometimes sunrise-early. I eat my breakfast, workout, think, blog, and just bask in the silence around me. It's a time when I can keep my guard completely down and just listen to my own breathing.
Back to the real reason of this post:
I have been so inspired by two people lately...and they are dating (yeah, I'm that girl with celebrity crushes!). Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel. Two reasons why I love JT right now? He has an awesome clothing line William Rast and now a new line for Target too! However, he also just produced my favorite new workout beat: Take You Down (listen to this track, it's catchy!). As for Ms. Biel (hopefully to be Mrs. Timberlake)...she was just featured in the January edition of Fitness Magazine as an ACTION HEROINE. She is inspiring me to walk, climb, run, and do anything active to fight for change. I am definitely going to look into active ways to take a stand against the issues that impact my daily life (article seen here).
They are both beautiful, talented, motivated do-gooders...what do you think of this power duo?

Trail-Blazer

I finally get to display my new blazer! I just love blazers...love, love, LOVE! They add instant polish to any outfit, and I just feel so grown-up when I wear one. This blazer that I am wearing is from Target, can you even believe that? I love the pinstripe lining, and the long boyfriend-esque fit. Although it is a little loose it is still fitted in the chest and shoulders so it still looks really feminine.

Blazer: Mossimo by Target, Knit T-shirt: Ecote (from Urban Outfitters), Black Jeggings: Forever 21, Boots: BASS, Necklace: Aqua (from Bloomingdales)

Dear Ms. Bradshaw, Can I Have Your Life?

I have met very few girls who haven't been obsessed with the following things: fashion, Sex & the City, New York City, finding love, living glamorously, and having a close-knit group of friends. Well...Carrie Bradshaw (obviously played by my girl SJP!) seems to have it all, what all girls want and I am obsessed with having one day.
It seems a little repetitive amongst "fashion" bloggers...who doesn't want to be like Sarah Jessica Parker's character? Besides having all the things that most girls are obsessed with, Carrie works as a columnist for Vogue, has best selling books (basically pondering what the heck men are all about), and is a walking fashion goddess. I want all of this. I want to write about love, life, fashion, travel, inspirations. I want to find the boy (I mean man?) of my dreams! I want to travel to exotic places, soaking up the culture and lifestyle. I want to have a close-knit group of friends once I leave my little security blanket crew in college. I want to dress with no regret, testing the boundaries, wearing big flowers on my dresses and birds on my head (maybe not the bird thing exactly, but hopefully you get my reference). The point is I want so much and I don't know how to get there and accomplish my dreams.
I think this upcoming second semester senior status is really starting to freak me out. My friend Chris knows, I literally talk to him all the time about my fear of graduation, how I don't know what I will become or what I will do (Thank you so much :) Chris this is your shout out).
So while this was my post to pay tribute to my idol Carrie Bradshaw (I know she is a television character but I can't help but want to be her, just a little bit...or a lot), I had to get all this frustration off my chest, and I feel a little better.
If you made it all the way through this post, thanks for reading. And now, a little CB inspiration.

Black Swan Fashion

Even though I didn't see the movie yet (not big on going to freezing cold movie theaters with an inability to get up without missing crucial cinematic moments), BLACK SWAN has been blowing up everywhere! Not only does it feature two of my style icons, Natalie Portman (who went to my high school!) and Mila Kunis, but it is supposed to be a psychological thriller. I have some weird obsession with the inner-workings of the mind, which is why I love tarot card & palm readings...(separate issue). Getting back on task, I recently saw an article in the NY Times about how the movie "influenced" the upcoming BALLET trend, "multilayered tutus, feathers and cobwebby knits attesting to a shift in the fashion wind."
Big designers like Karl Lagerfeld and J. Mendel, as well as chain stores like Asos and American Apparel are all showing clothes with a dark and feminine touch. What do you think? Would you try this out? I love the sheer fabrics associated with ballet-inspirations but I don't know if I can handle a tutu...Rihanna certainly can though!

What I Want: Jeweled Headband

My mindset for the holidays is "'tis the season to be sparkly!" Christmas trees and wreaths, sequined party-dresses and loads of glimmery and shimmery stars and lights just make me want to douse myself in glitter and run through the snowy streets singing "All I Want for Christmas is You!" Now that was a mouth-full!
Although the "holiday" season is technically over I refuse to stop incorporating a little razzle-dazzle into my wardrobe. My new obsession? Jeweled Headbands! There are so many ways to wear them: wrap them around your wrist and voila: a glam bracelet. Wear them traditional style on your head as a head band, breaking up the monotony of a regular pony tail or bun. But my favorite...gypsy style, a type of chic-karate-kid! But seriously, it is boho and elegant, seen on the fashion runway of designer Betsey Johnson and on celebrities like Ally Hilfiger and Paris Hilton. I am off to look for a jeweled headband today! Where should I look? Forever21? Urban Outfitters? Let me know!

I Know it's a New Year but...

So as the title states, I do know it is now 2011, but since I couldn't post pictures of myself in Florida I decided to post my favorite outfit from my Florida vacation...don't worry I will post again later today.
My outfit is: Urban Outfitters Kimichi Blue high-waisted shorts, black Calvin Klein tank top, Sperry Top-Siders in tan, leather and gold bead multi-layer necklace (trip souvenir from the store The Love Shack in Delray Beach, Florida.)

I loved the whole laid-back beach vibe that the outfit displays!
